Great Oak CA freshmen Aishling Fabian, Kelli Gaffney and Melinda Dang finished 28th, 30th and 44th in the 5-kilometer girls Nike Race of Champions at the Great American Cross Country Festival at WakeMed Park in Cary, N.C., helping the Wolfpack capture the team title with a 71-125 victory over Loudoun Valley VA. Fabian clocked 18:18.8, Gaffney ran 18:20.1 and Dang finished in 18:40 for Great Oak, which became the first California girls team in the meet's 20-year history to win the Race of Champions crown, along with the Wolfpack becoming the first program since Saratoga Springs NY in 2005 to sweep both boys and girls titles in the same year.
