Kingwood TX teams accept offer to run at Great American

The National Scholastic Athletics Foundation sent an invitation and is offering financial assistance to bring the cross country teams from Kingwood TX to the Great American Cross Country Festival on Oct. 7 in North Carolina.

Kingwood High, located outside Houston, was flooded in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the student body was displaced from the building. STORY

Steve Underwood of the NSAF explains how Kingwood was selected to receive a travel grant, which is permissible in special circumstances.

"All of us are very grateful," Mustangs boys coach Tate Symons said. "This is an opportunity we wouldn't have had if it wasn't for the NSAF. The kids are very excited about it."
